Mt. Timothy closed its ski season in style last Sunday with hilarious, high-flying dummy races, an open house in its new guest services building, a barbecue on the deck, and unbeatable spring skiing under sunny skies.
West Fraser won the dummy races, hands down, with Lumberjack Hank that flew through the air with flare on a log round.
It was one of about a dozen dummies that were entered into the competition.
Ski hill manager Noel Thompson surprised most of the large crowd that gathered for the races with a final farewell.
After close to 10 years as the mountain's manager, Thompson says it was time to move on.
He will be pursuing his newfound interest in the field of solar heating.
Thompson leaves the job with mixed emotions, but says the ski hill is being left in good hands.
"I've trained five guys who can do everything that needs to be done here. It will be just fine."
Thompson was instrumental with the development of the ski hill during the past decade, using his 30 years of experience and personal connections with the industry to full advantage.
