The 11th Annual Divorce Open couple's golf tournament at the 108 Golf Resort last weekend went off without a hitch and with no break-ups reported.

The long-running tournament drew 86 couples from all over British Columbia, including Kamloops, Williams Lake, Quesnel, Prince George, Whistler and North Vancouver, and from Red Deer, Alta.

Approximately half of the entrants were from the South Cariboo, says 108 Golf Resort spokesperson Jeff Kendy.

"We had great weather and a great turnout."

Big winners for the weekend were 100 Mile residents Tony and Julietta Morete who won the overall low-gross winners, and Dennis Thompson and Sharon Claasson, from Sheridan Lake, who were the overall low-net winners.

Laura Storochuk from Williams Lake came within six inches (15 cm) of winning $10,000 for a hole-in-one sponsored by Investors Group in 100 Mile House.

There were no close calls on another hole sponsored by Cheemo RV, which carried a prize of a travel trailer.

Saturday night wrapped up with a banquet held at the 108 Community Hall where guests were required to wear neon light-up dreadlocks or sunglasses in order to qualify for prizes.

"We always do something fun like that," says Kendy.

Other top winners for the tournament were Les Hopkins and Krystal Ross, from Williams Lake, who were the first flight low-gross winners and Jack and Linda Rausch, from 108 Mile, who won second flight low gross.

The first-place Callaway win went to Dennis and Francine Gaetz from Williams Lake. The second-place Callaway winners were Chris and Christa Leflufy from 105 Mile.

First flight low-net winners were Ken and Nancy Worobets, from Quesnel, and the second flight low-net champs were Gary Crosina and Dianne Ward, from Williams Lake.
