Huber Farm at 70 Mile House hosted the Cariboo Trails Arena Driving Trials on Oct. 1-2, with judge Elisa Marocchi of Buffalo Creek.

Competitors came from as far away as Fort Fraser, Mission and Alberta to take in the two-day event.

In the BC Heritage pleasure driving classes, Rosalie Turcotte from Mission took first place in both the working pleasure and reinmanship pleasure events. She also went on to place first in driving trials Level 2.

Rita Hyatt from Endako also had a successful weekend, taking first in command pleasure driving, second in working pleasure and third in reinmanship pleasure.

Local participant Karyn Greenlees from Green Lake reeled in a first-place result in driving trials Level 1.

Helen Howell from Mission placed second in driving trials Level 1 and reinmanship pleasure.

A second-place finish went to Jenny Stringer of Fort George in command pleasure driving, along with a third-place result in working pleasure.

Pat Crema of Pritchard took a couple of thirds in both command pleasure driving and driving trials level two, and Morris Helmig of Rosalind, Alta. scooped second place in the driving trials Level 2 event.

Driving trials Level 1 third place-winner was Marion Roman of Langley.

Pleasure classes were all qualifiers for the BC Heritage Games, which take place annually each July.

This event was the third of the year and last of the season to be hosted by Ken Huber of Huber Farm, and he says they were all very well attended.

The highlight for the season-ender, he adds, was the weather.

"We didn't have snow and ice like last year. The weather was excellent and everyone had a great time."
