The final game of the 10th Annual 3-on-3 Hockey Tournament was a nail biter on Dec. 28.

Last year's champs Morningwood came back from behind to defeat the Iceoholic's goalie Chris Poggenpohl in the last 30 seconds of the game to tie it up 12-12.

Sustaining their momentum, Morningwood finished off the Iceoholics with two goals out of three in the shootout – Brent Szabo and Garrett Hilton got the markers. Reece Forman scored the goal for the Iceoholics

Nick McCabe netted the tying goal, while Hilton scored the winning shootout goal for Morningwood. McCabe and Hilton currently play for the 100 Mile House Wranglers.

"It was the most exciting final we've seen in a few years," says tournament organizer Laura Albert. "The Iceoholics came the closest to defeat Morningwood. Morningwood has won it four years in a row."

With only three players aside (plus the goalie), 3-on-3 hockey is fast paced and high scoring; each game is 45 minutes long.

The Iceoholics must be commended though, says Albert. While they fell to Morningwood 19-14 in the opening day's competition, they fought their way to a tie during the second game and almost captured the win. The victory was only robbed in the final seconds.

In the semifinal, Morningwood defeated the last place Lakers 15-4, while the Iceoholics edged third place Shooting Blanks 15-14.
