Adult league up and running

Organizers looking to build up player numbers this year

Adult soccer players will soon be on the pitch at the 100 Mile House Soccer Fields and organizers want folks to know it's all about having fun and all skill levels are welcome on a drop-in basis.

Both Ladies Only and CoEd nights run until fall.

Our attendance takes a hit with people travelling in the summer, says spokesperson Hilary Gosnell, so it would be great to get some new faces out to fill out the ranks.

"Our Ladies Only is for all skill levels and we welcome beginners or the "I haven't played in years" gals with open arms. We run from May 9 to Thanksgiving on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

The CoEd night takes place on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and is having a "soft start" today (April 28).

"Of course, all skill levels are welcome to join, but this group does promote a fast pace and a more competitive nature."

If our numbers are strong, Gosnell says there is a tournament in Penticton on the Thanksgiving weekend that the ladies team enjoys attending.

Cleats and shin guards are not required to play, but they are recommended for safety, as most running shoes provide no traction on wet grass, she explains.

"We do play through rain - honestly it's fun - but we never play if there are electrical storms in the area. Rates are $5 per drop in, or $35 for the season.

If folks are interested in playing in both the Women's League and CoEd, then they will only have to pay $45 for the season.
