The 108 Ladies Club Championship, which was scheduled for Aug. 18 and 19, was postponed due to the very smoky conditions that weekend. The annual tournament has been rescheduled to Sept. 8 and 9 and hopefully, conditions will be better by then. The course continues to be in awesome shape and aside from the smoky conditions this past month it is a joy to play. The ground crews have been working hard at replacing the gravel in the sand traps with real sand, which not only improves the look of the course but makes playing the traps much easier as they are now all the same.

On Aug. 28, the club played another round of Stableford, which is earning strokes based on the net score on each hole. The winners were first placed Juliette Morete, second place Shannon Knapp, with a four-way tie for third with Laverne Martin, Maureen Menzies, Judy Scarrow and Suzanne Morin taking the prize. Fourth place was also a tie between Clara Koehn, Debbie Garrow, Lorraine McCaffrey, Carol Ohlund and Ann Pinkney. Birdie pot winners for the day were Maureen Menzies and Clara Koehn.

Aug. 21, the club played the Crier’s Tournament, where players are allowed to substitute par on their three worst holes. Long Drives went to Annie McKave, Angela Batalha, and Wendy Foster in first, second and third flights respectively, while Maureen Pinkney took the closest to the pin for flight one and Wendy Foster for flight three. Winners for first flight was Maureen Pinkney, second flight Juliette Morette and third flight Gloria Corno. There were three birdies that day with Maureen Pinkney scoring two of them and Heather Matsuda the third one.

Aug. 14, our group played a game called Stableford. First place was taken by Shirley Boyson, second place was a five-way tie with Maureen Menzies, Shannon Knapp, Laverne Martin, Carol Ohlund and Kathy Reid taking the honours. Third place saw a four-way tie with Shelley Larson, Judy Scarrow, Annie McKave and Lorraine Scott splitting the prizes. There were two birdies that day, one scored by Heather Matsuda and the other by Shelley Larson.

Carla Tetreau was the lone birdie pot winner.

Only one more month of golf for the regular ladies season. We hope to get in our re-scheduled Club Championship on the eighth and ninth as well as our regular Tuesday Ladies days. We close off the season with the annual wind up, which will be held on Sept. 13. That day, they will play nine holes of fun golf and end the afternoon with a lunch and our annual fall meeting.
