A 100 Mile House team led the way at a squirt division (10- and 11-year-olds) softball tournament on June 4 at Robinson Park.

100 Mile 'n Hour, an all-boys team coached by Kyle Moore, won the tournament after beating Barriere, 12-6 in the final, Trevor McMahon the winning pitcher. 100 Mile Blue mixed was the third-place squad.

In May, Mile 'n Hour competed in the Richmond boys' fastball May Mayhem tournament, which featured 26 teams in four divisions.

Although they didn't place, Moore says his team improved with every game.

They lost their first game by a 10-run margin, but tightened it to a four-point spread in the second game. The boys reeled in a win in their third game, and lost by one run in their fourth.

"We've got some good quality ball players and the more ball they see, the better they will be. They're starting to make some plays now," says Moore.

The team was scheduled to play in Barriere on June 11 and Clearwater on June 18.
