100 Mile House squad playing hard

Jayco Plumbing and Heating Peewee Reps have been road warriors

The Jayco Plumbing and Heating 100 Mile Peewee Rep Tier 4 team has been travelling around British Columbia recently.

The team headed up to Quesnel on Dec. 3 to play two exhibition games against their tier 2 team for extra games.

The first game saw 100 Mile take a devastating 15-2 loss with goals from Emily Tinney and Kyson Hopson.

After a roast beef and Caesar salad lunch provided by the Quesnel parents, the host team didn't know what hit them as the 100 Milers came out playing hard, says team spokesperson Kyra Hopson. "Each shift, the players had to give 100 per cent on the ice or end up warming the bench. It was like a whole different team out on the ice."

In the first period, Aidan Moore put his team on the board first with an assist from Hopson and Corey Harding. Shane Sutton (Moore) notched the second goal.

In the second period, Trey Pacheco scored two with assists from Elias Moore and Tinney. Huryn netted a goal with an assist from A. Moore. Then A. Moore tucked the puck past their goalie.

In the third period, Huryn (Hopson, Jackson Hooper) got his second goal of the game. Ending the period, Cameron Scott slid one by the goalie.

"The 100 Mile team played some hard, fast-paced hockey with outstanding goal tending by Joey Isaac and took the win 8-5.

Kamloops trip

Then the team was off to Kamloops on Dec. 4 for a league game against Kamloops Tier 4 team, where they faced former teammate Gavin McLean between the pipes.

Kyson Hopson put his team on the board first with assists going to Harding and A. Moore. Pacheco had a breakaway and scored the team's second goal.

It was back-and-forth between Kamloops and 100 Mile, and then Nolan Duff shot one by the goalie from a pass from Hopson.

In to the second period A. Moore shot a bullet and scored thanks to a heads-up pass from Jadyn Monical. To end the scoring, Hopson found the back of the net to bring his team within one goal.

Goalie Kyle Harding showed a lot of heart and hard work, Kyra Hopson says, adding the Milers kept fighting hard but couldn't get that last goal. The game ended in a 6-5 loss.

Sicamous trip

On Dec. 10 the 100 Mile Milers were off to Sicamous to play the Salmon Arm Tier 3 team.

The first period was scoreless until Salmon Arm potted a goal in the last minute of play.

Tinney (Gibson Fast, Hooper) tied the game at one apiece in the second period. Hopson shot one top corner with a wicked pass from Duff.

Hopson then notched two more for a hat trick. A. Moore then shot from the blue line and beat the goalie blocker side.

"The Milers played hard each shift and got great goaltending by Joey Isaac to solidify the win 5-3.

The team has two home games this weekend against Kamloops: Dec. 17, 1:45-3:45 p.m. and Dec. 18 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
