RCMP called out to find missing boater

Body discovered by South Cariboo Search and Rescue members

At 8 p.m. on May 25, 100 Mile House RCMP were called about a missing 88-year-old male fisherman on Horse Lake.

Friends of the missing man reported finding debris from his boat on Horse Lake, but he and his boat were not located.

100 Mile RCMP members responded with their police boat, and South Cariboo Search & Rescue was activated to assist in the search.

The east end of the lake was searched until 11:30 p.m., and the search resumed this morning (May 26). The RCMP helicopter and the RCMP dive team were called to assist. Around 10 a.m., the body of the

missing man was located by Search & Rescue personnel near the north shore of Horse Lake.

Foul play is not suspected and the Coroner's Office is now investigating.
