Parents get $40 day if teachers' strike continues

BCTF, NDP decry spending earmarked education money

Parents will get $40 a day for each student under age 13 if the teachers' strike continues into the upcoming school year.

Education Minister Peter Fassbender says it is to help cover added daycare costs.

Cariboo-Chilcotin Teachers' Association president Murray Helmer says the move could extend the dispute because it leaves a smaller pot of money to negotiate with.
