Host homes sought

Housing needed for University of British Columbia teacher candidates

School District #27 (SD27) has welcomed University of British Columbia teacher candidates to the school district for the past two years and plans to do so again this year.

In the past, many of these teacher candidates have spent some or all of their three-week practicum housed at the Lake City Secondary dormitory.

This year, however, the SD27 is unable to use the dorm and is looking for host homes in both Williams Lake and 100 Mile House, along with homes located near the school district’s rural schools.

Host homes will receive $125/week for each teacher candidate. This amount includes access to a light breakfast, but teacher candidates will be responsible for providing their own lunch and dinner.

The first group of UBC teacher candidates will arrive from April 24 to May 13 and the second group will be here from June 5 to 25.

Anyone interested in hosting one or more students during either of these time slots is asked to let Shannon Augustine (250-398-3824) know by Feb. 15.
