Help needed to clear new ski trail on Saturday

Nordics Ski Society clearing trail system at 99 Mile Hill for upcoming season

A big thank you went out to a number of helpers that cleared about 1.5 kilometres of new trail at a work bee organized by the Nordics Ski Society on Sept. 12, with another work bee scheduled Sept. 19 to make sure the local cross country ski trail system is ready for use when the snow arrives.

The Sept. 19 work bee at 99 Mile Hill is 9 a.m.

Because their clubhouse is currently occupied, the Nordics will be meeting at the 100 Mile Snowmobile Club Lodge, not the 99 Mile Ski Lodge.

The snowmobile club's lodge is further up Ainsworth road past the start of the Low Mobility Trail.

Participants are asked to bring water and a snack and anything to help move rocks, including shovels, rakes and pickaxes.

“Please consider coming to help,” says Nordics member Lauren Bock. “The more that gets done, the greater the chance we will be skiing on the new trails.”
