Truck flipped near 99 Mile

The weelky police report from the 100 Mile House and South Cariboo area

100 Mile RCMP received 77 calls for service during the past week including 15 traffic related files and 5 collisions. Some highlights are as follows:

 

Roadside check

On Jan. 6 members of 100 Mile House RCMP and Central Cariboo Traffic Services conducted a check stop in Lone Butte. Several warnings for motor vehicle act infractions were issued. Please plan a safe ride home if you plan to drink or have been drinking.

An Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) of alcohol can result in your vehicle being impounded for 30 days, a driving prohibition for 90 days, significant monetary fines and points levied by Road Safety BC and ICBC as well as tow and impound fees.

 

Rollover incident

On Jan. 4 a vehicle was traveling on Hwy 97 near the 99 Mile Mile when the driver lost control.

The truck went off the highway, flipped onto it's side, spun 180 degrees and then landed back on it's wheels.

BC Ambulance and 100 Mile RCMP attended.

The driver was uninjured and the truck had minor damages.

The highway was snow covered in spots, flurries had started and there was blowing snow.

Please adjust your driving speeds and maintain a safe distance with changing winter weather.

 

Vehicle Impounded

Also on Jan. 4, while on patrol, officers observed a car completing "donuts" using a hand brake in the Jake's Pub parking lot.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified.

The driver was served a violation ticket for Driving Without Due Care and Attention and his vehicle impounded under the Motor Vehicle Act days for stunting.

It was also found the driver did not have a valid drivers licence and he was served a Driver Prohibition Notice.
