Reader defends Donna Barnett

Letter writer rebuked for not taking up MLA's offer

To the editor:

In a letter to the 100 Mile House Free Press (Feb. 5) and the Williams Lake Tribune (Feb. 4), Wayne Fox was asking (Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA) Donna Barnett about her support for the changes to proposed hunting allocations.

Mrs. Barnett (through her assistant) gave her reply and offered to meet with Mr. Fox to discuss the issue (that he obviously didn't arrange to do) being away for the winter.

Mr. Fox sent an e-mail and gave us all a lesson in percentages. Again an offer to meet with him was made (and there was no) response to the offer.

Now, we have Mr. Fox asking "through these newspapers" what her answer is?

What part of her offer "I will meet with you to discuss the decision" don't you understand Mr. Fox?

It is fairly obvious Mrs. Barnett doesn't do her talking through the newspaper as you are trying to do. Get off the soapbox, accept her offer – and the last time I checked guide-outfitters were constituents also.

The minister (Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations) has reviewed and revised the allocations. The total number of animals involved is in the 60 to 65 range.
