Meat co-op story clarified

To the editor:

We are writing about an otherwise excellent article on the South Cariboo Meat Co-op, featured prominently in the Feb. 9 edition of the Free Press.

On behalf of our membership, we would like to clarify one point and mention an omission by our quoted board member.

By way of clarification, all of our membership shares are $100 each, with “community” members required to purchase a minimum of one and “producer” members obligated to purchase a minimum of 10. In turn, all members may purchase up to 50 ($5,000 worth) of these redeemable, interest-bearing shares as an investment in this attractive community project.

As for the board member omission, we wish to acknowledge and express our appreciation for the significant support our project has received from the District of 100 Mile House council.
