The Country Pedlar is well-recognised for great community support and, on June 22, Shelly Durand and her staff offered a delicious Strawberry Tea for a donation of $5. In addition to that, she hosted a silent auction of dozens of items generously donated by local businesses. All proceeds were raised for two well-known local residents, Jane Murray and Sandy Amy, to help with costs related to their cancer.
Shelly was delighted to report that several hundred residents dropped in, not only for the strawberries but because they really care and, between them, raised some $3,500!
David Levick Memorial
The last time an Interlakes Community Centre (ICC) Memorial saw such a huge volume of residents, with cars parked all down the highway in addition to the parking lot, was 12 years ago, for Danny Lytton. On June 22, the sheer number of friends who came to pay their last respects to David Levick, and to offer their heartfelt sympathy to his family, simply confirms the esteem in which Dave was held. Hopefully, it will have provided some solace to his family at this very difficult time.
