To the editor:
Teachers are withdrawing from extracurricular/voluntary activities with heavy hearts.
This is not easy for any of us, but we must take a stand against Bill 22, The Education Improvement Act.
Here is just one reason why our stand is of great necessity. Bill 22 neither addresses class size (number of students in a class) nor class composition (number of special-needs students in a class).
The superintendent and the principal will decide if the class is appropriate for learning. The teacher has no say.
Bill 22 hits quality public education in the gut. Bill 22 is just bad for both kids and teachers.
