Aug. 21, 1911-Feb. 12, 2007
Grampa Dick was born at the 144 Mile Ranch on August 21, 1911. He was orphaned at an early age and went to stay with relatives in Lac La Hache until he was old enough to move back to the 144 and work on the ranch. He married his wife Gwen in 1947 and they sold the ranch in 1948 to move to Williams Lake. Dick took up carpentry, but decided he wanted to be a store keeper instead. Dick and Gwen moved to Forest Grove in 1954 and opened the General Store which he ran until his retirement in 1973. He was always very much involved in the community especially with the curling rink, the Lions and the Fire Department. Dick was pre deceased by his wife Gwen and his daughter Maureen. He is survived by his son Bob and daughter-in-law Colleen of Forest Grove, three grand children and four geat grand children. No service by request. An interment will follow at a later date.
