After a short battle with cancer, Bill passed away peacefully at 100 Mile Hospital on June 17, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Lintlaw, Saskatchewan on December 17, 1935 to Ernest and Mary Perron.

After leaving home at the age of sixteen, Bill worked with his brothers Ed and Doug in the logging camps of La Pas, Manitoba. In 1955, Bill moved to Wilmer, B.C., where he met and married Effie Rauch in 1957. Four children followed their union: Bryan, Jeanne, Beverley and Stewart. After arriving in B.C. Bill worked in various jobs mining and logging and for Imperial Oil. In 1968, Bill and his best friend, Albert Potter, went into partnership with a portable sawmill and logging company. In 1972, Bill moved his family to a farm in Forest Grove, B.C. where he continued to live out his dream of operating his small sawmill and logging company and farming until 2007.

Bill was predeceased by his father, mother, brothers Ed and Gordon and sister Vi. Bill is survived by his loving wife Effie, children Bryan (Vicky), Jeanne (Todd) Best, Beverley (Garvin) Playfair and Stewart (Terry); ten grandchildren: Amber, Courtney, Kevin, Kimberley, Curtis, Michael, Cameron, Kelsey, Bradley and Kyle; his very special great grandson Max, his brother Doug (Francis) and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was a very loving family man and cared deeply for all his many friends. Everyone who knew him respected him for his loving nature, honesty, generosity and hardworking attributes. Bill always helped out the underdog and never asked anything in return. Bill, husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend; we will miss your love, patience, kindness and smile. Each of us will hold our special memories in our hearts forever, may we pass these on to our future generation. Until we meet again, we love you.
