It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Crawford in his 83rd year.
A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin to many family members, including son Jeff Crawford (Durcely), daughters, Lisa (Rick Lewington) and Michelle (Ken Dennis), grandchildren Lerissa (Aron Marsh), Colton Dennis (Freya Liu), Olivia Dennis, Seth Crawford and Sam Crawford, and sister Lois (Jack Henry).
He was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Iva Crawford.
Bill grew up in the West end of New Westminster among friends he has remained in touch with over the years. After graduation he took a course in diesel engines at the Vancouver Vocational Institute. He met and married Gretel Storm in 1960 and started his career as a truck driver, hauling almost everything needing delivery, such as groceries, gasoline, lumber, paper, cement, bulldozers and finally logs. He always said his best job was his last one at Ainsworth Lumber, working for David and Susan Ainsworth.
His other love was horses, of which he had many until he ended up with one that he started calf roping and cattle penning with in his 60's. Another interest he had was ocean fishing, which he managed to find time for on vacations and in retirement at Vancouver Island for the elusive salmon. He had a full life and made friends everywhere he went, and his last years where spent going to town for any excuse so he could meet and visit with everyone who knew him and enjoyed his friendship.
His family was his pride and joy, and he would brag to anyone who would listen about their accomplishments.
We will miss him forever. We are having a family gathering at Qualicum Beach to say goodbye to our Bill in July.
