Wayne Aune “Poppa” of 100 Mile House and formerly of Maple Ridge, passed away peacefully on Sat., Oct. 4, 2003 due to complications from cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughter, Sharm (Rob); six sons, Allen (Freida), Dennis (Betty), Bruce (Michelle), Jim (Gwen), Colin (Shauna), Sean (Kelly); 19 grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. Wayne was predeceased by his great granddaughter, Isabelle. Wayne was an active member of both the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #88 and Fraternal Order of Eagles. An honor guard will be present at the service. A funeral service will be held on Thurs., Oct. 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969-216th St., Maple Ridge. A short graveside service to follow. Following the service, there will be a celebration to remember Wayne at the Eagles Hall, 23004 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
