It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Alexander Lowrey of Sheridan Lake, British Columbia, on April 6, 2025, at the age of 71.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Barbara Lowrey, and his children: Ryan Lowrey (Racheal) of Courtney, BC, Colin Lowrey (Breanne) of Langford, BC, and Meghan Lowrey of Burnaby, BC. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Lorna Gonsky (Todd) of Campbell River, BC. Wayne was a proud grandfather to Jayden Lowrey (Colin Lowrey), Megan Gonsky, and Joe Gonsky. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family, including Mike Epling, Evelyn Lowrey, Pat Lowrey, Anita, nephews, nieces, siblings: Diane Warren (Gerry), Mary Ann Olson (Dean), Rob Lowrey (Sue), friends and many others.
He was predeceased by his siblings David Lowrey, Denis Lowrey, and Stan Lowrey.
Wayne began his career as an apprentice welder and earned his ticket working for Everyday Car Couriers . He later worked for the B.C. Penitentiary as a guard in maximum security before joining the RCMP in 1978. He served proudly until 1988, spending much of his career in the High Arctic and ended his career in Seachelt, BC. Following his service, Wayne and his brother Denis purchased the Riverside Inn at Lake Cowichan, BC. He obtained his Class 1 license and worked on logging roads driving off highway dump trucks on many of the roads off the coast of BC. In March of 1995 he was injured while working and was put on permanent disability.
He moved to Sheridan Lake, BC 26 years ago and never looked back. He bought some acreage and raised Scottish Indigenous Cattle which all became his pets.
Wayne was an extremely kind man with many tails and will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
