1921-2008
Walter, formerly of 100 Mile House and Langley, passed away on March 16, 2008 after a lenghty battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alberta, his daughter Susan Higgins of Kamloops, son Stephen (Darlene) Jens of Kamloops, his grandson Chris (Megan Dostaler) Higgins of Kamloops, and granddaughter Lisa (Marc Robitaille) Higgins of Castlegar. He is also survived by two sisters Dorothy Martell and Hilda (Bill) Oscienny of Victoria, and an aunt Hazel Emerson of Burnaby. Walter was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and moved to Vancouver in his teens. He married Alberta in 1943 and after serving in World War II, he and Alberta moved to Canim Lake to work in the forest industry. He hauled lumber and logs for Canim Lake Sawmills until his retirement in 1985 when he and Alberta moved to Langley. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date at Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby,B.C.
