September 29, 1932 - February 26, 2019
Vern was an extraordinary man and lived an extraordinary life from his early childhood to his final years. He spent his childhood between Toronto and Northern Ontario, with his parents, grandparents, and of course, Great Uncle Raim, Vern's hero and mentor. Life consisted largely of hunting and trapping, horses and guns, and the stories of Uncle Raim's days as a US Train Marshall.

Vern joined the British army at age 17, followed by the Canadian Air Force, giving him an almost 30 year career that took him around the world. After his retirement from the military, Vern wandered around Canada and the United States for a time, eventually settling down at the 83 Mile in the 1980's. For the next fifteen years, Vern roamed far and wide on horseback, always with a dog for company. When not on horseback, Vern spent his time visiting and building friendships that would last for the rest of his life.

He will be sorely missed. Celebration of Life to be held March 23, 2019, at 1 pm, at Hillside Community Church, 550 Exeter Truck Route. Thank you to Dr. Klopper and all the nursing staff of the 100 Mile Hospital for their wonderful care.
