February 7, 1941 - December 28, 2019
Tom was born on February 7th 1941 at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, BC. He met MaryAnn, his wife to be, in 1964 in Chilliwack; they married in 1965 at Queens United Church, New Westminster. Tom served his community who recognized his service with awards: the "Americas Cup" for minor hockey in Chilliwack; ten years coaching and eight years equipment manager.
Tom worked corrections: in BC Penitentiary, Matsqui Prison and Provincial Corrections up the Chilliwack River Valley prison camps, retiring in 1995.
After retiring, they moved to 108 Mile Ranch, joining the 100 Mile House and District Heritage Society, and serving as its president for 20 years. He and MaryAnn initiated many improvements to the site at 108 Mile Ranch and hosted the annual First of July celebrations for the whole district, earning him the "Citizen of the Year Award" for both 108 Mile Ranch and for 100 Mile House.
Tom and MaryAnn loved to travel, in their motor home, taking their animals with them. In 2014 they moved back to Chilliwack, to be nearer to family and medical facilities. On December 28th, after a short struggle with health issues, Tom passed away quietly in Chilliwack Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, MaryAnn, daughter Kelly, son Tom (Karen), son Todd (Maureen), granddaughter Desiree, and grandson Greg. He will be sorely missed.
The service for Tom will be held on January 11 at 2 pm in the Sardis Community Church 45625 South Sumas Rd, Chilliwack, BC.
