Thelma Sharkey

In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our cherished mom, grandmother and great-grandmother, Thelma Sharkey. Thelma died September 10 of heart failure in Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 84.
She was predeceased by her first husband, of 8 years, Albert (Al), in 1964, with whom she had two children, Terri and Lyle.
Thelma was also predeceased by her second husband, of 45 years, Ronald (Ron) Sharkey, in 2011, with whom she also had two children, Leon and Teresa.
The family of 6 moved from Surrey to Kamloops in 1972 and another move in 1979 took Thelma, Ron, Leon and Teresa to Lone Butte. Thelma and Ron retired to 100 Mile House in 2008.
After much dedicated studying Thelma became a Deacon in the Anglican Church in 1994 and later received the honorary distinction of Canon. Thelma's selfless dedication, wisdom and compassion to both her family and her Anglican family are what she will be remembered for.
She is survived by her sister, Carla Pickering of Calgary, her brother Ove (Eric) Erickson of Surrey, her children Terri Haywood (Doug) of Parksville, Lyle Sharkey (Corinne) of Nanaimo, Leon Sharkey (Julie) of 100 Mile House and Teresa Tennant (Lane) of Prescott ON, her grandchildren Amanda Weeks (Mike), Josh Haywood, Mikah Sharkey (Bran), Anthony Sharkey (Ashley), Bria Sharkey, Kaylee Sharkey, Jacob Sharkey, Piper Tennant, Bryn Tennant and her great-granddaughter Kylie.
We send her off with much love to join those who have gone before us.
A Memorial Service for Thelma will be held October 29, 2022 at 11:00 am at St Timothy's Anglican Church in 100 Mile House (The Log Church).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Raven Centre in 100 Mile, through the Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre (www.cariboofamily.org).
