May 10, 1933 - July 19, 2009

Stan passed away peacefully in 100 Mile Hospital on July 19, 2009 at the age of 76. In his early years he was employed in the Greater Vancouver area as a machinist. Early 1950s saw Stan move to the Cariboo to help his parents operate the Sheridan Lake Store. In 1957 he met a young school teacher at Braemore Lodge on Bridge Lake. Soon the old road to Kamloops was traveled continually, until 1958 when he married Marion. The newlyweds operated the store until 1961, when they again moved to the coast, with Stan working for Johnston Terminals and Canadian Pacific. In 1977 Stan and Marion with their two children returned to the Cariboo to stay. He drove logging trucks for Ainsworth for several years until his retirement.

As a young man he performed with his father in the Norwegian male choir in concerts both locally and in the U.S. Stan was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed trap shooting at the Lone Butte Fish and Wildlife facility, and the turkey shoots at the Roe Lake Hall. He was active in the Highway 24 Interlakes Lions Club, and the Roe Lake & District Recreation Commission, holding executive positions. As “Charlie 81” (his call sign) he enjoyed talking to people around the world on his CB radio.

Stan will be deeply missed by his wife Marion, his two daughters Karen (John) Judd, Christine Mickelsen; grandchildren: Gage, Brandon, Corianna, Joshua; great-grandson Matthew, sister-in-law Margaret (Bob) Bennett, and nieces and nephews in North Carolina.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Lakeview Cemetery at Roe Lake at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 24, 2009. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Interlakes Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
