Samuel Robert Stephen BURNSTEIN

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Samuel Robert Stephen Burnstein on February 22, 2007 at 100 Mile House Hospital. Sam was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on Feb. 10, 1943 and spent five years in the Royal Canadian Navy where he met his loving wife Carol. They relocated to Merritt, B.C. in November of 1967 where he worked for Craigmont Mines and later for the Ministry of Highways. In January of 1986, Sam and his family relocated to 100 Mile House where he continued to work for the Ministry of Highways as District Office Manager until his retirement in 1993. Sam was an avid musician, movie buff and fisherman. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carol (Schmunk) Burnstein and his daughters: Catherine of Great Falls, Montana and Corinna of Calgary, Alta.; his in-laws Joanne and Larry Odian of Kamloops, B.C. and Wendie and Larry Huddart of Okanagan Falls, B.C.; as well as his two nieces, two nephews and two great-nephews. There will be no formal service by request, but an informal gathering of family and friends will be held in 100 Mile House on Saturday, March 3, 2007 from 11:00am to 3:00pm at #2, 802 Spruce Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 100 Mile House SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society. Sam’s ashes will be interred at a later date. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
