June 1, 1978 - Feb. 28, 2008

Sadly we announce the loss of a beloved son, brother and nephew. Russell passed away peacefully with family by his side, after battling Wagner’s Disease for the past 20 years. Russell got sick when he was nine-years-old and lost the use of both his kidneys and at this time he was doing peritoneal dialysis. In 1990 Russell went through a kidney transplant. After five years, his body rejected the kidney and he was once again on dialysis. In September 1997 Russell began travelling back and forth to Williams Lake Renal Unit three times a week for hemodialysis. Russell is survived by his mother Delores (Wilf), his father Richard (Carole), his brothers Chad, Wilfred Jr. (Shawna), Lance (Julie), Ryan and his sisters Sharon (Rob), Angel (Zack), Amber, Eliza and a foster sister Mindy. Russell also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his godchildren and grandparents. The family would like to thank the following people/organizations for the support and care for Russell through his battle with Wagner’s Disease: Ainsworth, BC Kidney Foundation, BC Children’s Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, Royal Inland Hospital, Cariboo Memorial Hospital, 100 Mile & District General Hospital, Williams Lake Renal Unit, Kamloops Renal Unit, Dr. R. Dickey, Dr. Wijesing, Dr. Misoud, 100 Mile Ambulance Service, and White Feather Family Centre. Donations in Russell’s name can be made to the Kidney Foundation, Unit 200 - 4940 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. V5G 4K6, 1-800-567-8112.
