May 18, 1947 - Aug. 16, 2011

In his full 64 years of life, Robert Atkins was loved by all. His family, his friends and his co-workers were all touched by his kind and loving ways. Robert took compassionate care helping the aged in our circle; was always a happy and helpful host to his many friends and cared deeply for all of his family.

Robert will be missed by his survivors: wife Diane; his children Craig (Brook) (grandson Trey) Tyra; Brad Reimer (Pam); his siblings Ron (Dana), Joanne (Steve), Margaret (Brian) and Tom; his sister-in-law Jean and his nieces and nephews Stephen, Toni-Lynne, Della-Rae, Gordon, Ryan, and Kyle and great-nephews Colton and Payton.

Robert was predeceased by his first wife Cherlynn, his mother Rena, his father Eric, his brother Ray and his great-nephew Taylor.

Robert was born and raised in Chilliwack and made many close and life-long friends in those years. He was a true friend to many and never forgot any of them. He retired from Interior Roads in 2006 and travelled with Diane on their dream trip across Canada. They were Snowbirds and loved their lifestyle and (of course) he made even more friends. We all thought of Robert as a fun-loving man with personal charm and dignity. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word.

The family would like to thank Chilliwack General Hospital staff, Robert’s doctors: Dr. Bakker and Dr. Bull, Home Health nurses and the Hospice Association. Your kindness and caring blessed not only Robert in his final journey, but also eased the minds and hearts of his family. Thank you so much.

We don’t believe he’s gone

We know his love lives on

He touched so many friends

That gift will never end

Your memory is so very dear

Robert, we just know you’re here

………In our hearts……..

In lieu of flowers donations to the Cancer Society or Chilliwack Hospice society would be appreciated.

There will be a gathering of friends and family on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., downstairs in the Red Coach Inn. Everyone welcome. Bring your Robert stories.
