On January 29, 2008, Rev. Henry Goertz passed away at the Overlander Care home in Kamloops, at the age of 92 years. Married for almost 65 years, he is survived by his wife, Lenora; his three sons: Bob (Shannon), Dan (Ruth), and David (Karen); his three daughters: Gloria, Grace (Harold), Faith (Dietmar); 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, plus all of their spouses. He achieved his goal of being first ‘home’ to welcome all his children and their children. Henry is also survived by two of his brothers: Nick and John (Janice) and two sisters: Tina and Anne (John). After completing his Service in World War II, he served as pastor with the Evangelical Free Church from 1949 until his retirement in 1980. He served in Port Coquitlam, 100 Mile House, Quesnel and Johnston Heights in Surrey. In retirement Henry continued periodic ministry with the New life Mission in Kamloops. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at the Kamloops Evangelical Free Church, 1132-8th Street, Kamloops. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Pastor Rob Cave officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Life Mission, Box 712, Kamloops, B.C., V2C 5L7, in “Memory of Henry Goertz”.
