April 22, 1933 - September 23, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our wonderful Dad, Grandpa & Great Grandpa Ralph Sandberg of 100 Mile House, BC. Ralph passed away peacefully on September 23rd, 2022.
Ralph was born at Horse Lake, BC on April 22, 1933, to Nels and Mabel Sandberg. He moved to Vancouver with his mother and siblings at the age of nine and was raised in Mount Lehman, BC. In his teenage years he met and fell in love with Anne. They were married in 1951 and were with each other through all of life's ups and downs for more than 70 years.
In the 1950's, Dad's love of the Cariboo soon brought him back to the 100 Mile House area where he worked at several sawmills. In the mid 1960's he purchased and operated Irish Lake Lumber in Lone Butte, BC for nine years. During this time, he built the family home at 96 Mile House where he and Mom raised their children. They remained there for 54 years.
Dad was a kind and loving husband, as well as an amazing father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He always supported us throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of our lives.
Dad's greatest joy in life was tinkering. He was in his garage every day and was a master at fixing anything. He also enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter, summers at the cabin on Green Lake, and would take any opportunity for a trip through the Gang Ranch country. Dad and Mom also enjoyed attending Cariboo Christian Life Fellowship church for over 35 years.
Dad is most fondly remembered for his sense of humour. He had many funny stories and sayings which still leave us with smiles on our faces.
Ralph is lovingly remembered by his wife Anne and his children Neil, Robin, Darlene (Steve) and Russell (Rebecca) as well as his grandchildren Eric (Shayla), Patrick (Eryn), Logan, Amy, Becca, Hillary, and his great grandchildren Cadence and Ellis.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Williams Lake Seniors Village for their compassionate care of Ralph over the past few years.
A private service will be held at a later date.
