In loving memory ~
After a 17-month courageous battle with ovarian cancer, Penny passed away with her husband Harold at her side in the early hours of August 10, 2023 in 100 Mile House. Penny is survived by Harold, daughter Michelle (Martin), son Steve (Karen), grandchildren Matthew, James, Jack and Morgan, and dog Cooper.
Penny was born in Winnipeg and moved to BC at an early age where she lived in various small communities such as Mission and Ocean Falls. She graduated from Magee High School in Vancouver and then attended St. Paul's Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1961. Penny had a busy life. She was a devoted stay at home mom, an avid tennis player and member at the Tsawwassen Tennis Club, the first to volunteer for fundraising (such as cooking hot dogs for the Tsawwassen Minor Baseball League), the biggest cheerleader for her family at their numerous activities, and keeping up with her grandchildren's events. Penny loved travelling, walking along beaches, and sitting quietly enjoying a glass of wine. In later years, Penny fell madly in love with the Cariboo where she and Harold built a log home at Lac des Roches on the lake. Their home became the centre of family holidays and vacations. She was on the board of the Lac des Roches Watershed Society, a member of the local book club, and a strong supporter of the 100 Mile House Food Bank. We will miss her flashing green eyes and warm smile.
