It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Joseph Koens.

Nick passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 10th, 2016 at the 100 Mile District General Hospital. He was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan and as a child moved by covered wagon to Medstead, Saskatchewan.

He later moved to BC and met his wife Joy in August 1954 at the Cultus Lake Riding Stables, which he owned and operated from 1952-1964. They were married for 55 years. In 1958 they bought a dairy farm and moved to Columbia Valley. In 1975 they bought Sharpe Lake Ranch in the Cariboo where they ranched for 27 years and from there they moved to Fawn Creek Road. Nick was predeceased by his wife Joy, his son Ben and his brother Tony. He is survived by his son Tom (Kristy); daughters, Toni (Steve) and Jo Ann (John); his 7 loving grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sue (Cam) Allenby of Chilliwack and Carol (Hank) Roth of Edmonton as well as many family and friends.

He was very loved and will be deeply missed. He has finally been reunited with his loving wife, which has been his wish since the moment she left.
