Moira Jean Davies (nee McMichael) of Deka Lake, BC. Passed away quietly on August 12, 2014 at the age of 72 after a mercifully short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born November 30, 1941 to Una and Harry (Russ) McMichael of Burnaby, BC. Moira was big sister to Shirley and Harry. After graduating from Burnaby North Secondary, she attended UBC and earned her Bachelor of Education.

Moira married Larry Davies of Bowen Island, BC on August 26, 1966 and had 3 children, Shelley, Leanne and Patrick. In 1970, the family moved to Deka Lake and she became a prominent figure in the community, volunteering with the VFD Ladies Auxiliary, Citizens on Patrol, and the Bridge Lake Bridge Club. Her passions included painting, bridge and swimming, and teaching children and adults.

Moira is survived by husband, Larry, daughters, Shelley (Ted) and Leanne (Reg), son, Pat (Veronica), granddaughters, Denika, Gayle and Claire, her brother Harry and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ann, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and missed most by her cats, Snuffles and Rusty. She was predeceased by her parents, Una & Russ McMichael, and her sister, Shirley Marsh.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at 100 Mile District Hospital for their care and devotion and the many friends who visited and helped keep her spirits up.

A celebration of life for Moira will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Deka Lake VFD Fire Hall, 7449 Burgess Road, Deka Lake, BC. For more information, please email snewhouse66@gmail.com.
