Mildred (Dee) Ethel DIMMER nee Hendrickson

August 12, 2006

Mildred died of cancer on August 12, 2006 at the age of 70, in Port Moody. Born in New Westminster, B.C., Dee, as she was known to her family and friends, was a “logging camp brat,” spending her early years along the B.C. coast. She married Royston Herbert Dimmer and did the office work for their paint contracting business before becoming a dedicated nurse. After her husband retired, the couple moved to the Cariboo area where she worked in the 100 Mile House Hospital. Later she moved back to the Lower Mainland where she worked in the Eagle Ridge Hospital. Many will remember Dee, not only as a conscientious and caring person, but as an enthusiastic games player. She particularly enjoyed the cut-and-thrust of competitive bridge, teaming up with her good friend Tessa Waters. She is survived by her beloved husband Roy, daughter Kim and partner Paul, three grandchildren Josh, Karla and Sarah, her brother Bob and his wife Alenka, niece Telka (Roderik and children Matana and Jorin) and nephew Matthew. She is pre-deceased by her younger daughter Eve. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 in the First Memorial Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Ave., Port Coquitlam. Donations gratefully accepted for the Alzheimer’s Society, Cross Roads Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
