Mayva passed away peacefully in her home on Aug. 11, 2016 at the age of 99, surrounded by her family.

Mayva Elizabeth Wilbey was born on a homestead in Vanguard, Saskatchewan on May 13, 1917. She was the fifth of six children and predeceased by her siblings, Ettie, Goldie, Royce, Lloyd and Harvey.

Mayva moved to BC in 1946. When she retired from the New Westminster Army and Navy Department Store in 1982, she moved to 100 Mile House, making this her final home. She lived her life with simple gratitude, kindness and a keen sense of humour. She filled her life with love for family, friendships and homegrown flowers.

Mayva has three children, Wayne (Nancy), Bruce and Marilyn (Allan). Grandchildren include Garth (Rhonda), Shelly (Ron), Tricia (Brian), Deana (Dale) and Bjorn (Lacey). Great grandchildren include Jordan, Megan, Kaila, Austin, Chloe, Kamryn, Wyatt and Tristan.

Mayva, affectionately known as Mother, Marvel, Gram and Great Grams will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She made an impression on many people with her broad smile, quick wit and gentle nature.

We would like to thank 100 Mile Hospital Home and Community Care, Hospice Care and 100 Mile Funeral Service for their timely, dignified and professional care. We would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Lapin for her exquisitely thoughtful care.

In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to Home and Community Palliative Care and Hospice.

Mother, Gram, Great Gram your spirit lives on within us. We will share your memory so that your legacy continues. We love you.

A Celebration of Mayva’s life will be held at 100 Mile Funeral Service (225 Cedar Avenue) at 2pm on Thursday, Aug. 25 2016.
