Oct. 6, 1921 - Feb. 5, 2011

Margaret Jolly was a woman gifted with a gentle, loving kindness that she shared with everyone she knew in her own special way.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband John Morrison Jolly in 1996. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Del (Ian) Gunn, her grandchildren Christine (Mark) Adam, Lori (Barry) Wilding, Shane (Meg) Gunn, and her five great grandchildren, Quin, Maxen, Jazmin, Madelyn and Ocea. She is also survived by her sister Ella (Barry) Bradley and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was a giving person whose family filled her life and heart with love.

In 1980 Margaret and John retired to Vernon, BC after many years living in The Pas, Manitoba where together they operated several businesses. The two of them enjoyed many cherished years travelling “down south” in their R.V., making friends along the way. She held each friend close reminiscing on her travels with a smile. Margaret was a productive woman who enjoyed creating and tending to her flourishing gardens and fruit trees. She trained her artistic hands in crochet, mastering delicate doilies, along with many cozy and warm custom afghans that all members of the family will hold close and feel the warmth of her love. Margaret overflowed with wisdom, grace, and dignity. She was a humble woman who embraced her family and friends with unconditional love. Margaret took great pride in being a wife, mom, daughter, sister, gramma, and, as she was affectionately known to her great grandchildren, “Great Maggie.” To each of us she was a beautiful, tender and delicate lady who had a smile to warm our hearts and a hug that made everything good.

Margaret moved to 100 Mile House from Vernon in 2007 to be closer to her daughter Del and family. Her first two years were spent enjoying the residents and attentive staff at Carefree Manor. Margaret then moved to Mill Site Lodge where she and her family began a relationship with the group of exceptional caregivers there. She spent the next year and a half as a member of the family at Mill Site Lodge where all the staff and residents embraced her.

Margaret Jolly’s family would like to extend special thanks to each staff member at Mill Site Lodge not only for your exceptional care, but also for your sensitivity in knowing and enjoying the sweet and gentle woman that Margaret was. We are all grateful to each and every one of you for all that you gave to her and each of us as a family. We also express deep gratitude to Dr. Joanne Lapin for her care and attention to Margaret and our family over the years.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Margaret’s life when the gardens are in full bloom.
