May 11, 1953 - November 30, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Lorinda (Linda) Roux of the 108 Mile Ranch, announce her passing. Linda passed away on November 30th in Prince George, BC after her short battle and journey with cancer. She was comforted by her family at the time of passing.
Linda was born on May 11, 1953 in Modesto California, to parents Finley and Elaine (Cazier) Crothers. At age 17 she moved up to Roe Lake with her parents, and remained in the 100 Mile House area for the remainder of her life. She worked many jobs from the "Fish Mother" at the Spencer Dickies, to the manager of the tourism centre. Linda also worked at the local SAAN store and Warehouse One. Her first job was at the Flying U Ranch in 1971. More recently she enjoyed her job interacting with her community at the local coffee shop, The Chartreuse Moose, and her 20 year service with Statistics Canada. Linda valued and cherished all the friendships with people that she has made throughout all of her jobs.
In June of 1978, she married the Love of her life, Tom. Tom and Linda were married in the 108 Mile Ranch Community Hall and resided in the 108 Mile Ranch. In 1983 Tom and Linda welcomed their daughter Emmy into their lives. Linda was a devoted and loving mother.
Linda always made everyone feel welcome. She and Tom enjoyed hosting dinners which always included family and close friends. Everyone that crossed paths with Linda fell in love with her instantly. She knew how to make people happy.
Linda is survived by her daughter Emmy (Rudy Sans), her brother Bruce Hammer, in-laws Phil (Janet) Roux and Brian Roux, nieces Waneta, Becci and Tasha, nephew Ryan and many close friends. She is preceded by parents Finley and Elaine Crothers, sister Patricia Hammer and husband Tom Roux.
In lieu of flowers a memorial in Linda's name would be greatly appreciated to either the SPCA or The Rotary Hospice House in Prince George BC, where she was cared for with love and dignity. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the hospice house.
Due to health concerns and current safety measures in place - the Celebration of Life for Linda that was to be held on Saturday, April 11th 2020 will be postponed to a later date.
