Loreen Ruth BARNES

November 28, 2005

Nov. 1, 1922 - Nov. 28, 2005

Loreen Ruth Barnes (nee Gordon) was born in Prince Albert, Sask. on Nov. 1, 1922 and went to be with The Lord on Nov. 28, 2005, after a brief illness. A memorial service was held Sat., Dec. 3, at the Creekside Seniors Activity Centre in 100 Mile House, B.C. Elder Bruce Wilcox of the Cariboo Presbyterian Church officiated. Loreen married Miles (Bud) Lynch in 1940 and shortly thereafter moved to Campbell River, B.C. For many years she operated two small cafes there and also served as a matron supervisor taking care of female prisoners for the RCMP. Her first husband, Miles (Bud) Lynch, died in 1966. In 1967, Loreen married William Alfred Barnes. For a time, they lived in Surrey, B.C. and later in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, B.C. They also operated the Lion’s Bay and Sunset Bay Marinas near Horseshoe Bay, B.C. In 1982, the Barnes moved to the Cariboo, living at Bridge Lake, the 108 Mile Ranch, Gateway and the Travellers Trailer Court in 100 Mile House. Loreen moved into Carefree Manor shortly before Bill’s death in Sept. 2004 and lived there until she was recently admitted to 100 Mile House District Hospital and Fischer Place. Loreen is survived by her four children from her first marriage: Molly Walker (Reg Brown) of Bridge Lake; Judy (Paul) Mathon of Summerland, B.C.; Dan Lynch of Campbell River, B.C.; Charlie (Pat) Lynch of Bridge Lake; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the management and staff of Carefree Manor for their kindness to Loreen during this past year; Dr. Wendland and the staff of the 100 Mile House District Hospital and the staff at Fischer Place for the care given to their mother in these last weeks; and Ginny Alexander for her special care for Loreen in the last days of her life.
