Linda passed away peacefully at home in Forest Grove on August 5th at the age of 64. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 36 years, Arnie McMillan; daughter, Jessie Tillotson (Lloyd); step-children, Lance, Riki and Josh; brother, John Wood (Marianne Hoyd); nephew, Josh Wood (Missy); her “like-a-sister” cousin, Patricia (Patsy) Saunders; and her lifelong friends, Joann Grey and Janice Cackette.

Linda was born in Vancouver August 27, 1952, the first child of Norman and Jean Wood. She grew up in the Renfrew Heights area of Vancouver and enjoyed family holidays at Canim Lake, making a connection with the Cariboo that would last a lifetime.

After graduating as a Registered Nurse, and working in Vancouver for a couple of years, Linda decided to make her home in the Cariboo and began working as a nurse at the

100 Mile House District Hospital, where she served the community with care and compassion for 30 years. She and Arnie married, bought their ranch in Forest Grove, welcomed Jessie, and made their family, friends, horses and the outdoors the focus of their lives for many happy years.

When Linda was diagnosed with a brain tumor five years ago, she was initially given a life expectancy of 6 months. Faced with that, she retired from nursing and she and Arnie started working their way through her bucket list. There were ups and downs, of course, but in her usual quiet way, Linda defied the odds and was able to enjoy five more mostly good years and some awesome fishing trips. As a final blessing, she was able to celebrate Jessie’s marriage to Lloyd this July. Linda will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul by all who knew her.

Linda’s family would like to thank all those who helped with her care and her life in so many ways over the past 5 years, with special thanks to the caring home support team, and her extended family of health care colleagues and friends who helped ensure her final weeks and her passing were as gentle as she was.

A celebration of Linda’s life will take place at the family ranch, 4485 Canim-Hendrix Lake Rd, on Sunday, September 3, at 2:00 pm. All who knew her are welcome. If desired, donations in Linda’s memory to a health care charity or foundation of your choice would be appreciated.
