Laurette Gratia Doherty (nee Lamoureux) passed away peacefully on March 19, 2020 at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
Laurette was born in Lac La Biche, Alberta on August 22, 1936. in 1940 she moved to the Queensborough area of New Westminster, BC. She attended Queen Elizabeth Elementary School for grades 1 through 5, moved to Burnaby at age 11 and attended Nelson Avenue School for grades 6 through seven then attended Burnaby South High School for grades 8 through 11.
Laurette met and married Arnold Latimer in 1953 and they lived together in South Surrey where they raised their family of 5; four daughters and one son. They divorced in 1969.
In 1971 Laurette met and married Glen Doherty and they continued living in Surrey. Then in 1981, she moved to 100 Mile, BC. In 2009 she moved to Langley, BC.
Laurette was predeceased by her parents Claira and Eugene Lamoureux, her daughters Dale Swank (known as Amanda) and Mary Latimer, her sisters Marie Lester, Annette Nikkel and Cecile Ficher, her brother Jim Lamoureux and her grandson Doug Wagner. She is survived by her son Len Latimer, daughters Fay (Glen) Ducolon, and Patricia Peters, brothers Ray (Judy) Lamoureux, Walter (Hyumei) Lamoureux, sister Agnes (Brian) Dilworth, brother-in-law Fred Fischer, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, if desired donations may be made in memory of Laurette Doherty to the Kidney Foundation, Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
There will be a private memorial service held at Valley View Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to join a celebration of Laurette's life at a later date.
