The family of Kenneth Richard Gisby wish to announce, with sadness, his peaceful passing on July 24, 2016.

Ken was born and raised in West Vancouver and spent his life helping and caring for others.

He was a member of the Bowen Island Volunteer Fire Dept., later joining the West Vancouver Fire Dept. During his 23 years of service he rose through the ranks and retired as a Lieutenant.

Ken and his wife Laurie then moved to Greeny Lake, where once again his concern for others drove him to initiate and later be granted full certification of the “Greeny Lake Fire Dept.” As a result of his efforts in this project Ken was awarded the status of “Home Town Hero”.

He will always be remembered for his love of animals and will be dearly missed by his many friends, volunteer members, and acquaintances.

Ken will be forever loved by his wife of 53 years Laurie, his sons; Ken (Shelley) and Dave (Kelly), grandsons; Ryan, Tyler, and Greyson, his one granddaughter Carlie, his sister Lynda (Bob) Dial as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Our family extends a heartfelt “Thank You” to Dr. Ramorasata along with the entire staff at the 100 Mile House and District Hospital for all their attentive care.

A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held on Aug. 6, 2016 1pm at the Greeny Lake Fire Hall with a parade of fire trucks starting at 11am across the street from the Lac La Hache Food Mart. We will proceed to the end of Timothy Lake Road and then to the Greeny Lake Fire Hall.

In lieu of flowers grateful donations may be made to the Greeny Lake Fire Department.
