Katherine (Kay) Alma Erickson, 85, born July 25th, 1918 in Trail B.C., the 5th of 9 children, died on Sat., Nov. 22 of heart failure after a long and interesting life. Pre-deceased by her husband, Barney in August 1988. Survived by her son Rick, daughter Elaine, grandchildren Lennea and Silas, and great-grandson Cohen. Kay spent the last 7 years living part of the year with her son Rick, in Vancouver and the other part of the year at her Sheridan Lake cottage. Last summer she spent in the Cariboo, at Sheridan Lake, living alone and still cooking on a wood stove. She was always an independent, determined women who did things her own way. She was a member of Kits House and liked to play bingo, cards, and go to Casinos. She also liked to drink rum with her family and friends. We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at VGH Cardiac Care Unit who were so kind and attentive to our mother on Saturday the 22nd. And also many thanks to Dr. Mandy Karim, who always went out of her way to give Kay the best care available. Services were held Fri., Nov. 28, at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home Internment followed at Mountain View Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation would be appreciated.
