June 19, 1929 - Sept. 18, 2016

On Saturday Sept. 18, 2016 the lord called KarlHeinz (Heinz) Lampert home to be with him.

Heinz was born June 19, 1929 in Germany to Karl and Johanna Lampert. He grew up in Germany and became a plumber pipe fitter working in a coal mine.

In 1950, he met his beloved Erna whom he married March 24/25, 1951. Heinz and Erna welcomed their first son, Heinz Artur, Jan. 2, 1952, but he died 3 days later. A second son, Rolf, was born in January 1954.

Heinz remained in the coal mine until July 1955 when he took his family and immigrated to Canada. They made their way to Revelstoke, BC where Heinz worked several jobs until he joined the Co-op Grocery chain in 1961. This sparked his grocery business life. In January 1964, Heinz and Erna were blessed with a daughter, Diana, completing their family.

1972 saw the Lampert family move to Clinton and become Owner Operators of the Central Market, and in 1981 the 47 Mile Variety Store. They remained in business until October of 1994. Heinz loved his business because it gave him the opportunity to talk and visit with all the many customers who many ended up becoming friends. People were Heinz’s passion, telling stories of “Back in the Old Country” or politics, and just plain life. He loved a good joke from the customers. One other passion of his was music, like waltzes, polkas, and March music.

Heinz loved his 4 grand kids Katie, Tom and his wife Claire, Sarah and his favourite nurse Christine. His best friend was his son-in-law Chris who he had many laughs, stories and did lots of handy work with.

Heinz saw his son Rolf pass away on Aug. 7, 2012 and then on Dec. 11, 2012 his beloved Erna pass away after 61 ½ years of marriage. He was also pre-deceased by his mother in 1941 and father in 1969.

Heinz is survived by his daughter Diana and son-in-law Christopher Guerin, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, half-brother Udo Lampert in Germany. In-laws Egon (Margot) Sommer, Eberhard Sommer, Margita Trempnau, Art (Cindy) Sommer, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday,

Sept. 24, at the Clinton Community Hall at 11am.
