1925 – 2009
Jose da Silva Pacheco passed away on July 23, 2009 in 100 Mile House. Joe was born May 12, 1925 in Portugal. He married Maria da Costa Dias in 1947 and they had five children. Joe left for Canada in 1959 to provide a better standard of living for his family. Jose Manuel Jr. (his oldest son) joined his father in 1961. Maria and the rest of the children followed in 1966. For the seven years they were apart, Joe worked hard to get his family to Canada. Joe was very devoted to his family and he lived to see all of them married, and the birth of 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Joe was predeceased by his wife Maria in August 1999, and son Jose Manuel Jr. in January 2003.
He is survived by Maria de Jesus (Joe), Richard, Armeneo (Gail), Louisa (Peter), two daughters-in-law: Johanna and Ruth; grandchildren Tony, Tammy, Paul, Susie, Debbie, Chris, Jessica, Tawney, Kalhiea, and Andrew. He was predeceased by one grandson Justus in 1995. Also survived by his great-grandchildren Treyton, Keeley, Nikitas, Nia, Aeron, Jacob, Isabella, Elaina, Daniel, Brayden, and Justus.
Joe will be sadly missed by his family and friends and he will be forever in our hearts.
The prayer vigil will be held at 7:00pm, Friday, July 31, 2009 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in 100 Mile House.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 1, 2009 also at St. Jude’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in 100 Mile District Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Agency 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.
