On November 1, 2022, John "Jack" Alexander Ross of 100 Mile House, B.C., passed away at the age of 85 years.
Jack was born in Fort William, Ontario in 1936 to Leslie and Mary (Cooley) Ross. Following service overseas in WW II, Leslie moved his family to Burnaby, British Columbia. Jack graduated from Burnaby North High School in 1955 and subsequently joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1956. Following training, he was transferred to Winnipeg, MB where he met the love of his life, Gloria Killeen. They were married in 1957 and in 1958 they started their family and Jack left the RCMP and joined the Winnipeg City Police. In 1964 Jack moved his wife and two children to Coquitlam, B.C. and joined the West Vancouver Police Department.
After a long and distinguished career in law enforcement, Jack retired from the West Vancouver Police Department as Deputy Chief in 1991. As a result of his lifelong love of horses, Jack and Gloria moved to the 100 Mile House area, where they raised registered Paint horses at their "Paints and Pines Ranch" near Horse Lake.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife Gloria in 2017, and his sister, Lynn (Dave) in 2013.
Jack is survived by his son, Kelly (Wendy); his daughter, Leslie; granddaughter, Erin; grandson, Randy; sister, Patricia (Reinhard); brother, Leslie (Susan); a good friend of many years; Anne MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no service at Jack's request. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Lung Association or Diabetes Canada in Jack's memory would be appreciated.
