John Hugh (Jack)
July 9, 1918 – Aug. 31, 2003
He leaves his loving wife Florence; daughter Carol Garvin (Bob); three grandchildren Steven, Sharon and Heather; three step daughters Lorraine Goodrich, Dianne Butler and Pat Lee; two brothers Harry (Norma) and Rae (Jessie); six nephews; several great grandchildren, grandnieces and grand nephews. His younger years were spent in Vancouver but his love for the outdoors brought him to the Cariboo where he built his home on the shore of Oie Lake. He was a brother in the Mt. Begbie Masonic Lodge, receiving his 60 year gold pin in July 2002. On Feb. 11, 1984, he married Florence Hartwig and they have had 20 years of pleasure trips and fun together. Jack was a very quiet, kind and generous person. A bricklayer and stonemason by trade, all who knew him will remember him by his lovely fireplaces and warming chimneys in the area. A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held on Oct. 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the 100 Mile Community Health Centre in the 100 Mile Hospital Building. Donations to Mr. Begbie Lodge for Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
