July 23, 1940 - Aug. 9, 2015

It is with heavy hearts that we regretfully announce the sudden passing of John Harold Symons, better known as Jack Symons.

Jack was suddenly and tragically taken from us on Sunday, August 9th, 2015 after a short stay in Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops following an unexpected accident that occurred two days earlier.

Jack was surrounded by his family as he took his final breath.

Jack Symons was predeceased by his mother Katherine (Kit), his father William Symons and his nephews; Darrell Symons and Kevin Calderone.

Jack was born in Langley, B.C. on July 23rd,1940 and grew up in Mission, B.C. Jack was an avid bowler and spent many hours at various bowling tournaments. It was at one of these tournaments that he met the love of his life, Sharon Symons. Jack and Sharon married in 1964 in Abbotsford, B.C. and made their home in Mission until 1969 when they moved to 100 Mile House, B.C.

Jack worked at the 108 Resort during the construction of the golf course and then worked for the Provincial Parks Board. Jack and Sharon lived in the Horse Lake area for a few years and in 1977 they made their permanent home at the 103. Jack was a bowling phenom. He “wowed” people with his unique style and his ability to bowl perfect games! He competed in the B.C. games where his team took home a silver medal. Jack enjoyed travelling throughout the province, competing in numerous bowling tournaments.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon Symons, his brother Larry (Sharon) Symons, his brothers-in-law; Bob (Gloria) Germain and Ray Germain, his sister-in-law Anita (John) Edlund and his nieces and nephews: Joe (Diana) Germain {Emma, Bailey, and Carter}, Bobbie-Lynn (Bob) Hendley {Cody, Caili, Courtney, and Alice}, Shelley Calderone {Colton and Matt}, Chris (Shayla) Edlund {Kennedy, Hayley, and Payton}, Jason Symons (Tanya) {Brendan Ethan and Ava}. In lieu of flowers we would ask for donations to be made in memory of Jack to the Kamloops Hospice, the wonderful place that cared for Jack and our family for the last few hours of his life.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church at 12:00noon on Saturday, August 22, 2015.

A reception will follow the service.
