December 30, 1928 - September 17, 2018
Johann 'Joe' Erickson, born Dec. 30, 1928 passed away on Sept. 17, 2018 at Fisher Place in 100 Mile House, BC. Joe was a good husband, father, grandfather and well-respected lawyer. He is survived by his wife Pat, his son Jim and wife Alena, and grandchildren Noah and Zoe. He is also survived by his eldest sister, Rickey, and predeceased by his sisters Ruth and Violet plus his eldest son, David.
Joe spent his early years growing up within the Icelandic Canadian community in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He moved to Vancouver, BC, with his family in 1940 and later graduated
from Britannia High School. He attended UBC for his undergraduate studies and continued there into the UBC Faculty of Law. He soon graduated as a young lawyer, married Pat, started their family in 1957 and moved to Chilliwack in 1963. Joe enjoyed many years of a successful law practice there with partner Don Patten, and was active in the Chilliwack Kinsmen Club.
Joe and Pat moved to the 100 Mile House, BC, area in 1980 and opened a private law practice there. He and Pat spent many happy years raising and training standard bred horses and even hosted occasional race meets on their half mile track and ice races on Loon Lake, BC.
Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Nicolson, community care workers and the caring staff at Fisher Place who helped make the final stages of his life as comfortable as possible. In keeping with Joe's wishes, a private celebration of life is planned.
